And yet, time marches on. Life changes course, as does the wind. I think all one can do is adjust the sheets and march on, wherever the wind may take you. We’ve gone on and gotten all caught up with ourselves. Sometime a long time ago, we got it in our minds that the world was our oyster, that everything was ours to control and bend to our will, as we see fit. Entire empires have been built on this premise, only to cave and collapse under the weight of yet another empire struggling to realize the same intangible goal. And yet time marches on, as does the wind.
A lot has happened since our last installment. Despite what some have believed, no; Benny and I have not been camped out on Wall Street, or anywhere else for that matter. Teeth and nails have been worn as we’ve battled our wits to finish out this most recent of semesters. For Benny, this could be his last; For me, I’m staring at a long list of classes still to be had. The boat sits at the dock still…the fuel pump and oil pressure sensor have been changed after quite a delay in shipping, as reported via twitter. Benny also and amazingly changed the head, all by himself and without calling for assistance. This still amazes me, and helps put my mind at ease as to his coming journey. He’s more mechanical than he lets on, even if he doesn’t know it yet. For my part, my work is almost complete. She’ll run on love and carry on towards dreams. Gasoline might also be required.
Meanwhile, I’m off to FAA Rigger’s School in two weeks, followed by another semester of electrical engineering classes. We’ve moved the dropzone to a new home, and all is well there. We’re looking at taking Skimmer out next week for the first time in a long time…somewhat of a maiden voyage since she found her way to the dock so many months ago. It is my aim to bring Capt. Benjamin (ed: Buzzkill
) up to speed enough so that he will be able to coax enough from the ole’ A4 to get from here to New Orleans as that is, to my knowledge, still his plan. Meanwhile I have started shopping for a new boat meant for a new journey. I have quite the lass in mind…I’ve met her via the internet, and we’re meeting for the very first time soon. I’ll post updates as soon as I hear back as to whether or not she’ll accept my invitation and accompany me to the ball, which should be no later than the 14th of this month.
Time marches on, as does the wind. Adjust your sheets, and sail on.
