‘Tis going to be a short post tonight…I’m tired and looking very much forward to climbing into the fantastically wonderful tile shower and staying there until it is time to pass out.
We’re supposed to leave in 7 days. The list of work going on has been tremendous. The top end of the engine has been removed, rebuilt and reinstalled. The forepeak has been completely gutted, cleaned up and painted in preparation for the new manger for the starboard anchor. The new riding paw and cradle has been welded on. A patch was welded in the aft cabin to accommodate the autopilot. The steering rams have been rebuilt and reinstalled. The bottom has been cleaned. The sails have been switched out from the Nat Wilsons, back to the Bierigs. Countless spots have been touched up and repainted. The long boat has been glassed. This list keeps going.
Still to do, we are replacing the full set of standing rigging on the main and foremast, bending on the headsails, installing the autopilot and new GPS, construction the chain mangers…this is another very long list. Our crew is now at 6. Four more are due to arrive next week via plane, and then we’re off to Cape Charles at some point, possibly with two boats. West Marine also can’t find our chain. C’est la vie. Time for that shower, then bed. I stayed up way too late last night watching hookers get into fist fights.
