So…Looking back at my 100 list for the first time since it was written, I’m surprised at how materialistic it is despite my best efforts. I do remember having to write almost anything that came to mind, as time was oddly short. Regardless, it still amazes me from time to time at how I drift back towards the world of things, and the act of acquiring them.
That being said, I’ve been holed up at the house for about the last week. I returned the other a/c unit which necessitated the shift for the dog. The weather here has been pushing the low nineties for about a week. I ordered a new unit, a Frigidaire this time. It’s also rated a lot lower, at 5000btu. I’m hoping it does a better job. Unfortunately, it takes up about the same size though, so it’ll still cut me short on space. Also I just remembered I owe my little sister $100.00
In other news, the season is plugging away on Alliance. Hanging on to crew seems to always be an issue on boats, and of course this season is no exception. It’s wild how fast the season is ticking by…here it is already July 1. Only four months left in our regular season. Plans are being made to go south this winter. I’m unclear as to whether or not I will be aboard, or as to if a solid commitment has been made. If she DOES go, I’ll be on ’til at least Puerto Rico, methinks. I hope she goes. Seems a shame to me to keep her pent up on the York all the time. She’s meant to cover miles and cross oceans.
As for Nautilus, I’m off today and tomorrow. I’m wrapping things up here at the house (this blog post being one of them) and packing up to head back to the marina. The A/C panel arrived. The wire arrived. The shore inlet arrived. The galvanic isolator arrived. All of these things have been burning a hole in my living room table. Time to get out there and get a move on. I also broke down and ordered the shore power cord last night. After discussing it with my boss (Thanks Greg!,) I went with the 25′ option. I had been leaning that way, and talking it out made it make that much more sense. I don’t need 50′ where I am now. 50′ is a pain to store and the boat is designed to be self sufficient, meaning shore power is not a must. Time to get down to brass tacks and get this stuff installed. I’m also going to measure for the chiller plate when I get to the boat, and pull the trigger on the Engel reefer conversion unit.
In other happenings, I’m writing this post on writemonkey. It’s pretty awesome…when I type, it makes the same sound effects as a typewriter. I’m old enough to have typed school reports on a typewriter, and I missed the clicking and dings. Also, I’ll have a couple new videos up on YouTube if Moby ever comes through with the music! I’m listening to The Poison Tree at the moment. I’m out. Too much to do, but I’ll keep updating.
